The world was in turmoil due to events in Cyprus, but the American stock market barely budged. Our Virtual ValuePortfolio dipped slightly off of the previous week’s all-time high.
Since our virtual portfolio's inception date, our original $100,000 has grown to $115,149 including dividends. That translates into a five-month, 15.2% nominal gain and a 37.1% annualized total return. Our benchmark, the S&P 500, had total returns of 11.4% and 28.0% over the same period.
Four of our holdings hit new 52-week highs last week: Walgreen (WAG), Molson Coors (TAP), Kelly Services (KELYA) and Coca-Cola (KO).
We took a profit of 24.3% last week by selling our Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) shares. The proceeds have been added to our cash reserves which now total $14,748, or 12.8% of our current portfolio value.
